LAGOS GRADUATES 54 ARTISANS
In a bid to curb the rate of unemployment and reduce social menace among the youths in our society, the Ministry of Special Duties has graduated 54 beneficiaries in the arts of Fashion Design, Electrical Installation, Metal Fabrication, Catering and Shoe Making at its Job Opportunity Centre, Igando.
The ceremony which was presided over by the director, Job Creation department of the Ministry Mrs Olabisi Onayemi took place at the Centre in Igando.
The director stated that the government introduced the training and built the Job Opportunity Centre basically to discourage the scrambling for white collar jobs among our youths in order to make them self reliance and be responsible to the society.
She stated further that the well equipped centre located at Igando is to enable beneficiaries have access to equipment in the course of practicing their trade.
Mrs Onayemi while presenting certificates of attendance to the beneficiaries who have undergone this eight weeks intensive vocational training implored them to be honest and dedicated in the practice of their profession.
She therefore urged them to be focused and disciplined because in doing so, the sky will be their limit.
Some of the beneficiaries among whom were Ruth Atewe, Aminat Akinpelu and Idowu Oluwaseyi expressed gratitude to Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola’s administration for giving them such opportunity to rediscover their God giving potentials In such a conducive learning environment.
However, there are about 80 trainees who are still undergoing various skill acquisition programmes in the art of Fashion Design, Catering and Hotel Management , Electrical Installation etc., at the Centre.
